Hello,
I hope you are well and don't mind me getting in contact. My name is Jarlath Mulvaney, and I am working on a National Geographic and History Hit documentary series called How the Tudors Lost Their Heads that investigates the circumstances behind a ‘Tudor’ who met an untimely end. Each episode culminates on execution day and to present this moment, we will be recreating the executions of six historical figures: Perkin Warbeck (1499), Anne Boleyn (1536), Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury (1541), John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland (1553), Mary, Queen of Scots (1587), and Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex (1601).
Small or large, historical executions were attended by a wide variety of people, and we are seeking the assistance of amateur dramatic societies who would be interested in taking the part of various supporting roles. We are looking to fill a range of profiles: noble witnesses, ladies-in-waiting, guards, clergy, commoners, and executioners. Our location for filming is Allington Castle (Allington, Maidstone, Kent, ME16 0NB), and it will take place between the 23rd and 27th February. People can contribute on one or more days depending on their availability. We will provide period costumes and makeup. This isn't a paid role, but expenses and transport will be covered. Rather than a drama, this production is a documentary series that recreates a historical event. As such, we are building historically accurate scenes with the people and fashion that you would expect to attend a 16th-century Tudor execution. We won't be able to feature children.
Please do note if you think members of the Pratts Bottom Dramatics Society might be interested in taking part. If they have availability, could they reach out to me (jarlath.mulvaney@historyhit.com) and Zoe Turner (zoe.turner@historyhit.com), with an image of themselves, available dates, mobile number and their location?
Have a lovely day.
Kind regards,
Jarlath
